Keep Your Laptop Healthier By Letting It Breathe

Short Advice:

Buy a laptop cooling-pad and use it always.

The Problem:

The majority of laptops have fans on the bottom side (the blue spots on the figure). The problem is that many of us leave our laptops on over a surface that does not let the air flow into the cooling fans, such as leaving it on the sofa or any piece of cloth. So it overheats!

Now the good news is that over 90% of the laptops are designed to hang if their components reach a dangerous temperature; to protect them from failing permanently.

But the bigger problem is letting the micro-dust get into the fans, which eventually slow them down, leading them to provide poor cooling-ability eventually.

The Solution:

Buy and use cooling pads, they are available on most electronics stores and not very expensive. Some of them come with extra USB ports or speakers. But the main thing you are looking for is the big external fan.

Also when you want to leave the laptop on on a surface consider putting it upside-down.
